RAFFLES FASHION DESIGNER SONPAVORAPONG SASIPIM WINS SDC INTERNATIONAL DESIGN
COMPETITION
Raffles Fashion Designer Sonpavorapong SASIPIM, also known as Hunny, took over the baton
from fellow schoolmate Verina LIE, winner of Society of Colourists and Dyers (SDC) Award 2023,
to win both the Singapore and International awards at this year\u2019s competition.
Besides being the second awards won by Raffles Fashion Designers consecutively, this year\u2019s
competition, which took place in York, United Kingdom, also marked SDC\u2019s 140th anniversary and
the 100th year of the Colour Index\u2122.
Hunny\u2019s winning design, a ready-to-wear capsule collection for women, was inspired by the
theme of symbiosis in nature. The collection stands out for its innovative use of sustainable
colour, with dyes extracted from Actinobacteria found in soil. This eco-friendly process adds
value to agricultural waste while ensuring that the dyes remain safe for human skin after
undergoing an ethanol treatment.
